Rebound Rumble
Official game info on usfirst.org!
On January 7th, FIRST introduced Rebound RumbleSM its game for the 2012 season. The game is played between two Alliances of three teams each (one robot per team). Each Alliance competes by trying to score as many of the basketballs in the hoops as possible during the match, which is 2-minutes and 15-seconds long. Balls scored in higher hoops score Alliances more points.
In the first fifteen seconds of the match, there is a Hybrid period, where the robot operates without driver input. During the hybrid period, one robot per Alliance is allowed to be controlled using a Microsoft Kinect. Each basket in this period is worth three more points than normal.
Bonus points are awarded to Alliances if their robots are balanced on bridges by the end of the match. In qualification matches where opponent Alliances work together to balance on the white CoopertitionTM bridge, all participating teams earn additional valuable seeding points.
