On January 8th, FIRST introduced LOGO MOTION™ as the FRC game for 2011. LOGO MOTION™ consists of a flat 27’ x 54’ foot field with two opposing alliances consisting of three robots each. The game will be 2 minutes and 15 seconds long. The robots compete to try to hang inflated shapes on the pegs of their scoring grid. These shapes are the ones from the FIRST logo: squares, triangles, and circles.
The match begins with a 15-second autonomous period where robots try to hang the Ubertubes onto their scoring grid. Any Ubertube hung will be awarded extra points, and during the rest of the match, logo pieces hung onto pegs with Ubertubes will receive double points. Gray tape placed on the floor and the ends of the pegs will allow for use camera tracking for the robots. After the autonomous period, drivers will be allowed to control the robot. Robots will go over to a window where the team will place a tube on the robot. Then, the robots must traverse the length of the field to the other side, where their scoring grid is. They will place the shape on the peg and return to the window for another one. At the end of the match, the robots will try to deploy independent mini-bots onto four vertical poles. The mini-bots should race to the top where a sensor will be triggered and extra points will be awarded for teams that can get it to the top.
Scoring will be based on multiple elements. The Ubertubes placed on the bottom, middle, and top row are worth 2 points, 4 points, and 6 points, respectively. Regular pieces placed will be worth 1 point, 2 points, and 3 points, from bottom to top. Ubertubes will double the points on the peg. Shapes placed to form the FIRST logo will double the points of the entire row. The mini-bots that reach the top of the pole gives 30 points, 20 points, 15 points, and 10 points from first to fourth place
