Successful 2008 season ends. Onwards!

Mission

The Stuyvesant Robotics Team seeks to positively impact the lives of young adults as they cultivate skills in teamwork, strategic thinking, and community outreach through the F.I.R.S.T. (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition model. You can also read more about us in our Press Packet.

Program

Educate members on lifeskills

Our program emphasizes the development of skills such as teamwork, public relations, strategy, dedication and outreach, in addition to the science, engineering and technology acquired in robot construction. These skills all help prepare members for successful future careers and endeavors.

Building robots to compete in the annual F.I.R.S.T. Robotics Competition

Each year, F.I.R.S.T. releases a unique game challenge. Teams are given six weeks to design and build a robot that will compete with other teams throughout the world. During the the six week build season, much of our time is spent in the robotics lab at Stuyvesant High School. Meetings are held nearly everyday as dedicated team members build our competing robot with the assistance of gracious parents and volunteer mentors.

Demonstrating our robots at various city-wide events to promote the education of science and technology

One of our main goals is to spread the message and various programs of F.I.R.S.T. We do this by encouraging other schools (middle and high schools) to start their own robotics teams. In addition, we have tried to increase our government's interest in F.I.R.S.T. through presentations and by inviting local politicians to the exciting competitions. Team 694 has been featured in numerous events (NEXTfest), television programs and publications. Each year, our robot is seen by over 20,000 people.
