Get Over It!

GET OVER IT! is the FIRST Tech Challenge of 2011. It will take place on a 12’ by 12’ field that will be divided into two zones by a row of obstacles in the middle. Two alliances, each consisting of two teams, will try to maneuver their robots to get PVC batons and place them in goals. The game will start off with a 40 second autonomous period where the teams are not allowed to control their robots, and will be followed by a 2 minute driver-controlled period.
The two robots are started off at the corners of the field with five batons each. Ninety other batons are placed in 3 dispensers on the other side of the field. Two special types of batons will earn them extra points. There are two magnet batons for each team, and these when placed in the center cylinder of the moving goal will provide them with 25 points, where regular batons placed will be worth none. The doubler baton when place will double the goal score. Any batons placed in the outside cylinders of the moving goal will be worth three points. All batons placed in the stationary goal will be worth 1 point.
The obstacles in the middles of the field are two cliffs, two bridges, which are like small see-saws, and one mountain. These will play a part during the autonomous period, where parking your robot on one of these will give you extra points. Dispensing batons during the autonomous period will also give extra points, and those batons will be counted again after the driver-controlled period. During the last 30 seconds of the game, the teams can only make contact with their own bridges. Teams will also try to get balance points by parking on the bridges and balancing the weight.
